First Fridays in Oakland

These free monthly street festivals in Uptown are so cool. Lots of people representing Oakland’s diversity and vibrancy: Art, music, dancing, food, just hanging out and mingling. The five-block festival was started by a local co-op called Rock Paper Scissors, one of the many small, non-profit community organizations in Oakland. It grew beyond their capacity and was taken over by the city about five years ago. And, it’s a 10 minute walk from my place in Adam’s Point.
